Woodworking is about transforming materials into something useful or beautiful and working with hand tools can be very therapeutic. Woodworking is also about finding creative solutions, fixing mistakes, and learning new skills. I’m a hybrid woodworker, which means that I create things through a combination of traditional hand tools and power tools. I particularly love making furniture or other things that serve specific uses around the house. As a hobbyist woodworker, I don’t make my living from woodworking and I typically build things for myself. Periodically, I do take on commissions, so I’m happy to discuss ideas and potential projects with people. I also work with other media such as leather, metal, and plastics, but woodwork remains my primary focus.
